What a beautiful powerful piece of writing, Viktor. I will try to send it to my adult sons in Nth America. I can feel those winds you describe. Youβve written a beautiful tribute to Gorbachev. Iβm so glad he lived long enough to let you know he supported you now. Best wishes, Wendy
Thank you very much, I'm very glad you liked it! Gorbachev was a honourable public man and maybe we would still be living in the Soviet Union if some unlike him were at his duty and at his time. Russians are the only ex-Soviet citizens who keep a disdain from his legacy; people from all other republics which were under oppression from Moscow, including Ukraine for sure, have the highest consideration for him.
Wonderful read and context that only someone close to that time could bring: I really loved this piece β Simply put, it was necessary to turn the table of justice and put the dishes of life on the right side above a clean and neat towel.β Thanks TE
I'm very grateful for your message, dear Tate. For a non-native speaker of English, who never had opportunity to set foot in an English-speaking country, it's sometimes audacious to use or create methaphoric figures because I never know how it will be understood in an exact fashion, but your positive feedback makes me believe it's worth trying!
