Thank you. I just bought a new flag because the one I purchased 3 years ago has faded and it's time to replace it to show my support for the Ukrainian people. I am ashamed to fly the American flag as we have this fascist and his minions destroying the democracy and freedom the American flag is supposed to stand for. I am sorry for what those people did. I did not vote for them, I voted for joy, integrity, and compassion, Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz.
I carry the colours of Ukraine on me every day. The colours are outside my home and inside, and they are at work. I carry the spirit of Ukraine within me. Ukraine will overcome the enemy and become stronger. Its broken cities will rise again. Good eventually overcomes evil.
I changed my profile pic on FB to the Ukraine flag months ago.
Though I have received the rudest comments from strangers even when commenting on things like the weather or sports, I know the majority of Americans support Ukraine. However, it is so sad that there are people who donβt, and it is those people who are so insecure that they feel the need to say something rude and insulting to a stranger who has not said anything to them or anything political.
My response to them is:
β I have the same right to speak and have an opinion as you do. Yes my profile pic speaks of my support for people under attack and losing their lives to protect their country, but Iβm not attacking those who disagree. Yet, you felt the need to respond to me by calling me a name? You donβt know me, sir.
You have a right to your opinion and to say whatever you want to say about politics, but you do not know me. I would like to challenge you to share your opinions without putting others down, being rude, or insulting others to do so.
Be better.β
Funny thing is that the people who monitor those sites/posts appear to go back and delete their comments and leave mine. :)
Their comments say more about them than it does about the people, the supporters, or the situation in Ukraine.
Maintain hope because you have more support than you think!
Shortly after Ukraine was invaded, a friend invited me to go see a band from Kyiv, DakhaBrakha, who was touring the US and was playing in a city near us. There was a man passing out Ukrainian flag pins outside the venue; I have worn the Ukrainian flag every day since. Many people have commented on it, all positively. Just last week someone thanked me for wearing it!
My Ukrainian flag is flying at my house in Nacogdoches, Texas. When I went to Etsy to order it, every sellerβs site said, βThis item is in high demand.β I looked on Amazon, and the sellers all said the same thing.
We just raised a brand new Ukrainian flag this week. We Stand with Ukraine. Stay Safe.
A Ukrainian flag flies proudly next to our Canadian Flag here in Vernon, BC, Canada! Slava Ukraine πΊπ¦
