No it is not correct! Those on the Left support Ukraine. We havenโ€™t lost our common decency or common sense. We know Russia/Soviets have been our enemy since after WWII. But the Republicans have a strong disinformation and really propaganda machine going. They are experts in twisting the Truth. Donโ€™t believe it, please! I havenโ€™t heard one peep of pro-Russia from anyone on Bluesky, the social media app we have all fled to after leaving FB, Twt/X and TikTok.

Iโ€™d really be cautious on reading US sourced media. Even large publishers are getting more compromised. You have to read carefully for the source and slant. I studied International Relations (back when the Wall came down!) but the best Master level class taught us such a basic lesson: know the writerโ€™s stance. Amazing how that affects the writing, the very history and so called facts. Read everything from the US with a cautious eye. Substack actually has the best writers right now that you can trust like Heather Cox Richardson and The Bulwark. And Aaron Parnas is an awesome young and very popular journalist. Hang in there. We have not changed our hearts; just our political fortunes, for now. Hugs.

We stand with Ukraine and we stand with you, Victor! The US has become a whirlwind of contradictions, and thatโ€™s the plan of the current regime. They are spewing as much chaos as they can and their base is swallowing buckets of lies, daily. I would discount the graphs and โ€œtrendsโ€. Many of us have stopped believing so-called polls because they are so biased and easily manipulated.

Also, the current US regime is a narcissist who would have you loose hope; they would like to convince you that people are turning away. Itโ€™s a classic tactic of brainwashing.

We stand with you! Hold on to the hope; donโ€™t listen to them.

I appreciate your comments and sentiments to Viktor, and you are correct about US (and other) media publications. But, just FYI, the Economist is a British-based media. AdFontsMedia has them at about as Center as a publication can be on the R/L scale. It does show that their reliability is generally high, but also can vary. They must be wrong on this issue. Definitely disturbing if they are correct.

(And we are about the same age! ;). I studied polisci when the wall came down and really should have been in IR, because that was where my heart was)

Maybe I looked at the graphs too fast...but I also question the size of the polling pool. How many people were actually polled? (and what state?) I am almost going crazy with the disinformation spread in the US...the entire republican party has mastered the message of misinformation and outright lies. And more people than I ever thought would - believe what the 'news' is reporting. or the 'headlines' they are reading.

Iโ€™ll never forget the professorโ€™s face when the Wall came down! It was my first International Relations class. But the news was so unexpected and we grew up under the Cold War and fear of Nuclear War. A very dramatic moment. Thanks! I did obviously a very swift search on google on The Economist and Economy not my strong suit. But I am so distrustful of anyone now. Read carefully & check twice. And I just donโ€™t trust polls. And the scope of whatโ€™s happening now in the US politics seems to have a long reach. Not knowing much about British media about the only thing I do know is the media Sky News was a Murdoch Conservative News, perhaps thatโ€™s changed. Iโ€™m not sure how much influence that has on British viewpoints. But overall one news article even if Centrist based on statistics shouldnโ€™t influence someoneโ€™s viewpoint.

Appreciate the commentโ€ฆbut, fighting Germans doesnโ€™t make Russia a friend of the United States or Europe or anyone else. It was solely a matter of Russiaโ€™s self-interest combined with their own survival to do that. Anything less on their part and quite likely it would have meant that they would soon have been chugging mugs of dinkelaker beer rather enjoying their own coveted bottles of Smirnoffโ€ฆand they knew it. Russia as a friend, I donโ€™t think so.

Putin is a former KGB agent, who misses the old Soviet Union. Unhappy with how Russia has been diminished by loss of territory after it's breakup under Mikhail Gorbachev's leadership, Putin seeks to re-establish the old borders by seizing former Soviet territory. He's become more emboldened after he grabbed Crimea and no one pushed back. So he felt he could just walk in and take the rest of Ukraine, and Biden would do nothing. Also why he interfered in our elections to install his Kompromat in the White House, to undo Obama and Biden's sanctions and support of Ukraine. Make sense?
