No it is not correct! Those on the Left support Ukraine. We havenโt lost our common decency or common sense. We know Russia/Soviets have been our enemy since after WWII. But the Republicans have a strong disinformation and really propaganda machine going. They are experts in twisting the Truth. Donโt believe it, please! I havenโt heard one peep of pro-Russia from anyone on Bluesky, the social media app we have all fled to after leaving FB, Twt/X and TikTok.
Iโd really be cautious on reading US sourced media. Even large publishers are getting more compromised. You have to read carefully for the source and slant. I studied International Relations (back when the Wall came down!) but the best Master level class taught us such a basic lesson: know the writerโs stance. Amazing how that affects the writing, the very history and so called facts. Read everything from the US with a cautious eye. Substack actually has the best writers right now that you can trust like Heather Cox Richardson and The Bulwark. And Aaron Parnas is an awesome young and very popular journalist. Hang in there. We have not changed our hearts; just our political fortunes, for now. Hugs.
We stand with Ukraine and we stand with you, Victor! The US has become a whirlwind of contradictions, and thatโs the plan of the current regime. They are spewing as much chaos as they can and their base is swallowing buckets of lies, daily. I would discount the graphs and โtrendsโ. Many of us have stopped believing so-called polls because they are so biased and easily manipulated.
Also, the current US regime is a narcissist who would have you loose hope; they would like to convince you that people are turning away. Itโs a classic tactic of brainwashing.
We stand with you! Hold on to the hope; donโt listen to them.
I appreciate your comments and sentiments to Viktor, and you are correct about US (and other) media publications. But, just FYI, the Economist is a British-based media. AdFontsMedia has them at about as Center as a publication can be on the R/L scale. It does show that their reliability is generally high, but also can vary. They must be wrong on this issue. Definitely disturbing if they are correct.
(And we are about the same age! ;). I studied polisci when the wall came down and really should have been in IR, because that was where my heart was)
Maybe I looked at the graphs too fast...but I also question the size of the polling pool. How many people were actually polled? (and what state?) I am almost going crazy with the disinformation spread in the US...the entire republican party has mastered the message of misinformation and outright lies. And more people than I ever thought would - believe what the 'news' is reporting. or the 'headlines' they are reading.
More than likely came from the same source that said covid will go away in the fall, the election was stolen and j6 was a peaceful protest... Verified from two other sources doesn't exist anymore and those two other sources can be God knows who!
Being a reader of them they are only center if your politics are hard right which sadly is most of all weโre seeing anywhere these days, so itโs all skewed
Iโll never forget the professorโs face when the Wall came down! It was my first International Relations class. But the news was so unexpected and we grew up under the Cold War and fear of Nuclear War. A very dramatic moment. Thanks! I did obviously a very swift search on google on The Economist and Economy not my strong suit. But I am so distrustful of anyone now. Read carefully & check twice. And I just donโt trust polls. And the scope of whatโs happening now in the US politics seems to have a long reach. Not knowing much about British media about the only thing I do know is the media Sky News was a Murdoch Conservative News, perhaps thatโs changed. Iโm not sure how much influence that has on British viewpoints. But overall one news article even if Centrist based on statistics shouldnโt influence someoneโs viewpoint.
Appreciate the commentโฆbut, fighting Germans doesnโt make Russia a friend of the United States or Europe or anyone else. It was solely a matter of Russiaโs self-interest combined with their own survival to do that. Anything less on their part and quite likely it would have meant that they would soon have been chugging mugs of dinkelaker beer rather enjoying their own coveted bottles of Smirnoffโฆand they knew it. Russia as a friend, I donโt think so.
Absolutelyโฆand BTW thatโs more fact than opinion. We probably agree itโs important to keep those two things straight, maybe especially when discussing international friendship.
Not this Democrat; and Iโm sure Iโm not alone. Iโve never been a fan of Russia or any communist country. Donโt listen to the trump lovers, theyโre all a bunch of liars.
Iโll always stand with Ukraine.
Stay safe and donโt listen to the trump media/propaganda or anyone associated with the insane fraudster and his ilk. ๐บ๐ฆ๐บ๐ธ
I know, technically, but I think you get my point. They gave up their nukes with the agreement that they would have protection. The US made a commitment.
They are not right on that. It's a scare tactic. Its not even an American paper. It's a paper from us catering to billionaire businessmen. In US I see more Ukrainian flags at protests than any other flag. If you just listen to what is on this platform and it's volume, you'll not believe that crap paper. Example- Warren buffet just donated 5 million dollars. U24 is getting massive donations from all over. We're here and we ARE with you!!!
Do not believe the majority of Americans are feeling โfriendlyโ towards Putin now. He is a murderer, a plunderer, a warmonger, and a brutal dictator for many, many years.
Iโm not one to โsoften upโ towards a man or regime that acts like this. He is despicable.
It usually takes a libertarian centrist stance. It has supported Thatcher ๐ฌ and Reagan, but also it endorsed both Biden and Harris in their runs against Trump. So take that as you will. It's still always best to question polls
No I don't think it was but maybe now it is ... but it is full of shit anyway and NOT TRUE. And obviously nobody polled any of us who support Ukraine!!!!
The Economist is right-leaning but not โpro-Trumpโ. It had sympathy for the UKโs last Conservative government but it was hardly โpro-โ Johnson, Truss or Sunak. It does proper journalism, so judges individual issues or pieces of news on their merits.
AdFonts Media has them almost in the Center of R/L. Not right-leaning. Ad Fonts does show it as usually reliable, but also indicates it can vary from what I'm seeing on the chart.
I read your posts. I receive your newsleetter in my emails. I donโt know what ti say. Ukraine is not forgotten by me . I think about you people every day even if i have no family there. I am not alonelikethis
Thanks for the responses. Though Iโm made fun of, I donโt like polls. What voters do they poll anyway? In over 50 years of regular voting, Iโve never been polled, not even once. And I know others who werenโt as well. So is it the same people all of the time?
The sole concept of "friendship" is something that can never be associated to Russia, the only exception is if there are some shared "values" (quote quote quote " " ") with them. Thank you, slava! ๐บ๐ฆ
Glasnost died the day Putin gained power. Americans are getting dumber and dumber. No one should mollycoddle these fools. They deserve nothing but ridicule and consternation.
Putin is a former KGB agent, who misses the old Soviet Union. Unhappy with how Russia has been diminished by loss of territory after it's breakup under Mikhail Gorbachev's leadership, Putin seeks to re-establish the old borders by seizing former Soviet territory. He's become more emboldened after he grabbed Crimea and no one pushed back. So he felt he could just walk in and take the rest of Ukraine, and Biden would do nothing. Also why he interfered in our elections to install his Kompromat in the White House, to undo Obama and Biden's sanctions and support of Ukraine. Make sense?
I donโt know what my country has become; I am confused and heartbroken. But I believe we are finally waking up , that we have a chance to break this insane fever.
Most Americans do NOT support Russia. Many of us continue to protest felon 47โs betrayal of Ukraine. The valiant people of Ukraine are not forgotten.
Can we diverge and consider Nancy Harrrigan's statement? She has called the people of Ukraine, valiant. High Praise, but are they? Were they? What say you, Mr. Kravchuk? Was the populace of Ukraine Valiant? Were you worthy of our interference beyond what is typical for America to ignore? We ignore quite a lot, as you've noticed. You are geograpically poised to be of use to the American Government. Your country allowed us to build a base within your borders, correct? What else? Do we already have your oil? or does Russia have that? Nuclear weapons?
How do you treat women in your culture? What is the moral foundation for a person of Ukraine? I've heard a rumor. It's about girls. Children and older among us. We are stolen, are we not?
Oh, you're THAT Carrie. I never liked Stephen King. Too much hyperbole in one man's mouth. And I kissed my last tampon goodbye twenty years ago, may you go on investing in them...
Hahahaha. You know how many times I've heard that one? Real original. You're really showing not only your hag age but also your stank soul.
As for "that man's mouth," yeah I have a strong feeling you haven't been inside of any man's mouth lately nor do they want you in theirs.
No tampon up there for me, just my husband. There's literally nothing you can say to offend nor destroy my spirit as I am a very happily married mother of 2 beautiful girls. You on the other hand, need to go find yourself some joy in life that doesn't involve harassing some poor young man in the middle of a war. How utterly cruel. Go back to Russia- You hateful bitch. I wash my hands of you.
You are a rude and classless person who does not have enough intellect to disagree on the merits, instead choosing an โargumentโ full of profanities. Being victimized by Russia does not erase the crimes of a government, nor will it be of use to you when you need somebody to blame if we ever get out of this mess. Everybody is ultimately culpable for the bitterness they spew. Everybody.
I'm not here to tip toe around your delicate feelings cupcake.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and there is a time and place for such arguments. Certainly not on a warriors post about feeling cast aside and forgotten. I am tired of playing nice with people that obviously are lacking any sort of empathy. The world needs more empathy, not less of it - that is one of the main causes for the mess we are in. You can call me what you think of me all day long, you're not hurting my feelings. I don't have time for any one that simply doesn't care at all about the things they say or do and how it will affect others. That's a piss poor attitude and I will call it for what it is. If youre gonna act like a witch - im gonna call you out on it. Don't like it? Don't care.
What is WRONG with you? How DARE you question whether Ukraine is valiant! You have eyes in your head I presume, but I can't see through them FOR you, just as I can't make you understand the difference between the propaganda sources you think are real & the real sources you don't believe FOR you.
If I could....you'd be very embarrassed about now.
I really hope, with all the forces of my heart, that this is just a fake poll, friend! If this is the case, though, the reflection is valid just to make sure it never turn into reality! ๐๐
It may be a real poll in some alternate reality where the people polled were ALL pro-Russia. But it does NOT represent the majority here in the USA, and it's obvious because we are fighting also for our survival, not against bombs like you but against bombs of lies and hypocrisy and economic disaster. You will see on April 5, this country is going to take democracy back. Look at what is finally happening here ... there is momentum, and our support for Ukraine is part of that Viktor. Keep hope alive -- we got you! ๐๐๐๐๐๐
Thank you so much, dear Blevin. Russians are not only the bad guys but a full nightmare all along our history, and the worst part is that we have the bad luck of sharing a border with them. ๐บ๐ฆ
Absolutely, we will never forget that the vast majority is with us. You can have all our help in your battle, because in the end, we are fighting for the same thing. Thank you so much, Kathy!
Absolutely, dear Stephanie. Thankfully, the most part is and will always stay with us. These are challenging times for America, and these graphs are probably a show of how complicated things are. At the same time I really believe this minority will lose strength anytime soon, I also feel extremely scared to see these graphs showing those descending lines so sharply. ๐๐
From a Canadian who pays very close attention to American politics: donโt lose heart, the tide is turning, Trump and his administration are messing up badly. His favourability is dropping and with that his power.
Thank you dear Erin, it's important and comforting to read your words. The madness of this administration cannot resist too long, they will stumble over themselves very soon. My love to Canada! ๐จ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฆ๐๐
Please donโt lose faith in us. The people I know stand with you. Russia is an enemy to everyone who believes in democracy. Russia is Americaโs enemy, too!
Many, many Americans are with you. We are not forgetting you. Russia is a bad actor and we know it. We are the new โsilent majority.โ It has taken us a few months to grasp the evil being unleashed by our new administration, but we are finally beginning to speak out. Slava Ukraini!
Appreciate your words, dear Lois. Pointing out that Russia is a bad actor is an obligation for me because I know firsthand what they are capable of. I see it, I feel it, and I must share this with the world so no one will ever build illusions about them (at least I will do my best to provide elements to avoid these illusions, but the final decision is still up to each one...) ๐๐
Dear Ellen, it's very frustrating, and that's why we are here, feeling that I'm repetitive and maybe becoming a little commonplace. Like if people start to think, "there's Viktor with all his crying again," but I know very well this is a duty. We are dealing, as you mentioned, with a strong and powerful machine of propaganda on all levels, and if this humble journal can provide a counterpoint in some way, I will go on and on with the certainty I'm doing the rightest thing! ๐๐
You are anything but repetitive. You always have something meaningful to say, something the rest of us need to hear - and please don't listen to the haters who question whether your country is worth helping (I read a hateful comment on here, but I didn't want to respond to it directly and engage with trolls). Since shortly after 47 took office, I've feared that my country is getting to be another Russia, to the extent that I'm seriously considering emigrating. As someone who's sworn I'd never even leave my hometown, I'm nervous and waffling - like, could I really make it on my own in a new country? But the valiant people of your country inspire me to be brave, as much as I can be.
Americans have not forgotten Ukraine. We have not forgotten that Russia is the aggressor. Unfortunately trump is back in office and he is an idiot! Donโt lose hope and faith. Our prayers are with you!
It's as full of shit as the publication it came from
I take them with reservations too, but it still scares me because chances are they are right on that. ๐ข

YES! We are fighting for our survival as well. And like you I am feeling hope. April 5 it begins.
Good!! There is a silver lining in all this in that more and more people will stop drinking the Kool Aid. When it becomes personal suffering.
America is no longer in the free world, but I knew what you meant.
Iโm so sorry to hear these stats. Weโre standing with you ๐ช๐ฝ
Thank you dear Massiel. It's very important to hear that, now more than ever. ๐
