Thank you so much dear Red. And I feel truly touched with your words, especially coming from someone who believes every single one of us deserves to be treated with fairness and compassion (as of your bio here!). We're completely together on that π
These are the sunflowers π» I planted for all of you Ukrainian WARRIORS, who have been to hell and back, are that are now starting to sprout! π±
From Southern Oregon (near the California border) in the United States, THESE SUNFLOWERS π» ARE FOR ALL OF YOU!!!!!
Again, Iβm immensely saddened that our current administration isnβt sending the support you need AND THAT YOU DESERVE!
But this is a small gesture from me to each one of you! As I watch these seedlings π± grow, I will remember the amount of strength and resilience you have shown every single damn day for over 3 years! I will also shed tears with you as you mourn the loss of your brave soldiers, and also for the innocent bystanders who are ALL victims of Putin and his HORRIFYING, BULLYING REGIME! You didnβt ask for this war, but I watch you every day stand up and continue to fight! You have my full support each and every day!
I wish you had THE FULL SUPPORT of our government, and that of NATO, but sadly thatβs out of my hands! But this IS something I can do! This is my way of keeping a candle lit for every single Ukrainian that must live in fear! Live in war! Live without their loved ones! AND SADLY MUST LIVE WONDERING WHO IN THIS ENTIRE WORLD THINKS OF THEM EVERY SINGLE DAY!
I DO! Until the end of this SENSELESS WAR, you have my undying support, compassion, thoughts, and even my sunflowers π» are for you!
I will continue to send you photos, and these photos are intended to remind you that even one person on the other side of the world thinks of each of you every single day!
Many blessings to you all! May your country know peace again wholly, and also very soon! ππππ
Ugh! π£ Iβm so sorry I cannot attach the photos here on this thread, but I have SEVERAL sunflower π» seedlings π± that have finally begun to sprout! THEY ARE FOR YOU AND FOR EVERY UKRAINIAN! ππ
Your son will understand. His distance on every level is a very necessary way of coping, and not any absence of love. He will understand. And he will have your precious words to help him, and those of others who admire you, and Ukraine, and strong grandmothers, and goodness everywhere. But you know that! The wisdom of holding onto the day and what is good in it, and having the faith that peace will, must, arrive, in one form or another β that is wisdom indeed. Thank you!
At every new day it gets harder to understand how some people can support what he is doing to Ukraine. One does not even need to like Ukraine, it's only a matter of humanity.
Vicktorβ¦.. your words, your faith in hope, your steadfastness, your loyalty to your writing knocks my socks off! I will always remember Ukraine and will always remember you.
Dear Elizabeth, thank you so much, I feel so much honored for that. So much. But nothing beats the honor of bringing a meaningful thought for you, because it shows how connected we are and shows that our fights are universal, no matter where we are and how the battles present in our respective nations. π
These glimpses of hope show all of us why Ukraine has been able to keep battling a much more powerful foe. Ukrainians are amazingly strong and resilient and determined. Thank you for what you are doing, Viktor.
I wrote three or four different things and wasnβt happy with anything I wrote. Thank you for this and sharing this kind womanβs wisdom. Loved her wisdom. Something I need to strive to do.
Dear Margretta, thank you so much. Please know that this sensation of writing several messages and deleting them just before sending because we don't feel that our words were accurate to our feelings, this is a very familiar thing for me. Especially at the time when I answer to the comments in the articles like yours here. For so long time I was so afraid of replying back the comments, not only because I am extremely careful to revise every single grammar and typo before I send anything (in order to respect the rules of english and also because it's not my first language of course), but principally, because I found out that no words could ever be able to exactly express my feelings towards so much love I receive. And one day, I just realized that I didn't need to be so careful, and it would be nice to share whatever comes to my mind, without worrying too much about typos and accuracy towards anything. And so here we are, trying to be happy with our words, and the important is that we are trying... And bythe way you were very happy with yours π
My heart breaks but at the same time pours out to you, and the people of Ukraine. Many of us in the US haven't experienced the hurt that comes when you loose a loved one in battle. Ukraine needs to stay whole and unified. The Russians don't deserve one fucking inch of your country. Everyone in Ukraine please keep the faith and stand strong against Putin. Slava Ukraine πΊπ¦ β₯οΈ
This is profoundly touching and inspiring. Thank you for your powerful storytelling. I'm standig with you and all Ukranians against Russian aggression. ππππ
I assume you have sent your 8 yr old somewhere for his safety.
He is struggling to understand all of the violence and hatred, danger and death taking place during this horrid war.
He must be worried sick about you.
Approach him with softness, love, and understanding when you talk at him, not with him right now.
He is also very angry with you, at the situation, at the war, at everything because he is to young to understand all that is happening.
If you used to read to him, try reading a favorite story of his or a favorite poem, or sing a favorite song or tell a favorite joke. Anything to get back your closeness. Talk about your family memories. Make plans for your future back together. Pray!!!!!!!
I admire you so much Victor!
One day soon, your son will recognize you as the hero you are. Until then, do NOT give up on him. You need HOPE AND EACH OTHER!!!!!!! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
"She didnβt tell me what peace looks like. She walked through war and became it.
And thatβs the glimpse of hope I want to leave with you.
Not that everything will be okay. But that everything will change.
And what we do before that change arrives, thatβs the part thatβs still up to us.
Because this story isnβt just about Ukraine."
Thank you for this moving reflection, Viktor. It seems to go with the Gospel reading from John 14 which for many Christian communities is one of the Sunday readings for the final Sunday in Eastertide. "My peace I give you, not as the world gives...do not let your hearts be troubled and do not let them be afraid". Thank you again.
You bring hope and strength to us, Viktor
Thank you dear Emily, we are bringing hope to each other across the world. π

The inhumanity of Putin evades description. He must be held accountable along with the Russians who support this animal.
At every new day it gets harder to understand how some people can support what he is doing to Ukraine. One does not even need to like Ukraine, it's only a matter of humanity.
And decency.

This was so touching and so beautiful! You have given me hope and a template for surviving in this world. I have become a paid subscriber.

There is a simplicity to truth. These women have lived it. You've spoken it.
Well put. Thank you.
That is inspiring and she is a special soul. πΊπ¦
