Kakhovka: a monument to Russian stupidity
Blowing up a dam is a testament to the anti-human nature of our invaders
DAMS ARE AMONG THE MOST gigantic expressions of human engineering and our ability to control the forces of nature. On this sad day, however, they turned to be the ultimate definition of evil and shame. Today, dams were transformed into the biggest monument of human dishonor and degradation as species.
Hours ago, Russians deliberately blew up the Kakhovka Dam in the southern part of Ukraine in order to promote a massive flood downstream Kherson region and produce something they judge as a military advantage. But even wars have limitations, and I'm not talking about the Geneva Convention. I'm talking about human civility.
I'm talking about the ability to measure the disaster of flooding in an area bigger than some countries in the world, home of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians. But not the competence to measure these numbers. I mean the intelligence and the empathy to scope the impact on the lives of completely innocent people who are far away from the decision centers of this war and will only see their lives washed out in the waters of this stupidity.
Intelligence and empathy is something regarded to humans, and today Russians proved to the world they don't carry dignity to be considered anything close to it. They allowed to immediately discharge, at a small sequence of explosions, a volume of water equivalent to the Great Salt Lake in the US state of Utah. Downriver population is sizable, and dimension of damages to villages and towns are yet to be disclosed for now.
Many are stating that Russians have just created an environmental disaster with consequences comparable to Chernobyl. Maybe when Russians are insisting they are to employ nuclear weapons, they mean producing disturbances like a nuclear catastrophe as they just did some hours ago.
Ukrainians are united and determined to stop the Russians at any cost. It's now more than an existential battle for us. It's simply not worth existing anymore while these barbaric invaders remain in our territory.
Curiously, this June the 6th was the day designated by the United Nations as the "Day of the Russian Language". Instead, it will now be forever remembered as the day of the Russian shame, or Russian evil (or both).
The Kakhovka Dam destruction is one of the biggest war crimes and acts of terror of our time. But be sure, we don't let the extreme immorality of our invaders flood into the rest of the world.Β
Please disregard the person trying to taunt you in the comments before me. Just because they're selling crap π don't mean we have to buy it in any way, shape, or form. Mean people suck anyway, everyone with any decency knows that.
Hopefully the urgent call for the U.N. and the IAEA will result in a swift emergency response for Ukraine πΊπ¦ and all of the affected citizens π’ I saw a UNICEF appeal already in my email I'm a regular monthly contributer for people in need. I guess my greatest concern besides for the welfare of your citizens is the nuclear power plant situation. As long as that sword is hanging over the head of all Ukraine πΊπ¦ and eastern Europe, the threat of nuclear terrorism is always on your table, unfortunately π π that's exactly how a sore loser megalomaniac tsar wannabe fuels his unfortunate subjects with the fantasy of "for the Mother Land" isn't even smart enough to realize that the original Tsar ruler was a king of Ukraine way back in the 900's which is why the oldest monasteries and such are originally Ukrainian if Putin actually knew history π
It was the Ukrainian people who conquered the Ruskie barbarian tribes to the north that formed the overall kingdom that Putin mistakenly claims is their heritage.
Anyway Slavi Ukraine πΊπ¦ always πΊπ¦ β₯οΈ β¨οΈ π π may she prosper in her attempts to remain free always. Slavi Ukraine πΊπ¦ β₯οΈ β€οΈ π
Excellent essay, Viktor. "We don't let the extreme immorality of our invaders flood into the rest of the world." This is the best summary of this war, and you do it in just one sentence. It is Ukrainians who are fighting, suffering, and dying, to keep the entire world safe. Damn it! Why are there so many people who don't understand this???
