Decency. Just when you think it might be a disappearing commodity you’re gratified to be proved wrong.

We all (well most of us) hope we will remember and act on the lessons we learned as children: Love thy neighbor as thyself, do unto others, character is how you behave when no one is watching. This man is a man of character and we are all better off that there are still people like him in the world. You in Ukraine are suffering through a terrible invasion of not just your land but your spirit and you are standing strong. We here in the U.S. are having our spirit assaulted every day by people who have lost their moral compasses (if they ever possessed them in the first place). I hope we can maintain our courage and resist what is happening here. One day,I pray, both our countries will be long rid of the malevolence we are now enduring

It should seem strange that in all that is going on in the world, all that is going on in Ukraine, all that is going on in the U.S., I am finding the most comfort and inspiration from your missives from a war zone. And maybe it isn't so strange. Maybe acts of humanity and decency stand out in the face of so much inhumanity being perpetrated by an invading army led by a dictator attempting to rebuild a dead empire. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your words, your soul, and the stories of your people, your decent, kind, inspiring people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Audra, I believe you captured the sentiment with which we all read Victor’s words, day in and day out. To know, that even in the very, very worst of situations, all we really want is for humanity to take root, and retain a firm grip throughout the brutal winds of a hateful, inhumane war, a beacon to the exhausted. That we still care for each other in the most fundamental ways we can, while clinging onto the hope of a peaceful tomorrow, in the darkest of times, on the darkest of roads. For everyone wherever they are.

Viktor, thank you for sharing this. It has been a tough few days and this story shared is exactly what I needed.

Do you realize that with your words and truths and feelings that you have become a beacon of light to others?

Out of the darkness and horror of war you are shining through.

Thank you.

During my life I've been on both sides of this story. But I did accept a meal, and I bought cigarettes for the one who found my friends wallet, but that's not the point. We help each other as we can. As a species, we get through things together.

The person who lost the wallet may have *needed* to share a meal, to put their gratitude out in the world.

What a heartwarming story. ❤️I believe we have become so surrounded with the negativity, we forget to see the positive things going on all around us. Human decency has gone awry. Sometimes one smile, a soft touch or providing a hot meal can turn your heart to mush if you look at the gratitude within the eyes of the recipient. One truly good deed a day can change your whole perspective.

Thank you. Thank you for believing in us. Right now it’s hard to believe in ourselves. The destruction happening here is not done with bombs and missiles. It’s being done with words and hate. The damage is terrible. And we must also wake each day to fight again. There is no other choice if we want a free country. 😢🇺🇸💕🇺🇦🌻

Yes, I believe this. I believe that there are people with this sence of right. I believe it more than I believe a deal has been made in some places until it has happened, been proven.
