Are We Still Part of Europe or Just Your Shield?

European Union, will you keep us waiting until we no longer exist?

THE WORLD CLAIMS TO STAND WITH UKRAINE. But when it matters most, all we hear is the sound of bureaucratic silence.

You may not understand what that silence truly means. Ask the Poles, the Lithuanians, the Estonians. Ask anyone in this part of Europe who has lived under Russian rule.

They’ll tell you: Russia doesn’t negotiate. Russia infiltrates. Russia waits. Russia strikes.

It happens that Ukraine is the only thing standing between Europe and Russia’s next invasion. Every day, Ukrainians are defending this continent’s borders with blood. With the lives of their soldiers. With the shattered remains of their cities.

But while Ukrainian soldiers fight to keep Russian boots out of Warsaw, Berlin, and Paris, the European Union is still debating. Still hesitating. Still hiding behind its own bureaucracy.

If Ukraine is defending Europe, then the European Union must defend Ukraine.

With weapons, yes. But also with something even more powerful.

A future. A guarantee. A membership.

A membership that makes it clear: Ukraine belongs here. Not as a distant neighbor. But as a vital part of Europe’s survival.

If history teaches us anything, it's this: Russia does not make peace. Russia waits. Russia infiltrates. Russia strikes. Russia destroys. Russia betrays. Russia seeds chaos.

In those sad times of the Soviet Union, Russians showed they have no respect for their neighbors. Actually they tried to eliminate us.

They forced Russians into Moldova, Lithuania, and Estonia in an attempt to dilute their identities. They deported Latvians to Siberia, Ukrainians to Central Asia, Belarusians to the Urals, scattering them like seeds in frozen soil.

They erased borders. Redrew maps. Renamed towns. Crushed languages.

And now, they are doing it again.

Deporting Ukrainian children. Annexing cities. Bombing culture into dust. It’s not just war. It’s cultural extermination.

You can’t negotiate with a country that wants you wiped from existence. And the European Union is still pretending that this is a negotiation.

If the West truly claims to stand for freedom, then prove it. Because right now, your institutions are nothing but a fortress of bureaucracy wrapped in hypocrisy.

You preach unity, West. You talk about European values, EU. but you turn your back on the one nation that is literally dying to protect you.

Can’t you see, dear politicians in Brussels, London, Washington, that your endless protocols and deliberations are killing us? Your disconnection from the people you claim to represent is the disease tearing you apart.

You wonder why faith in the European Union is crumbling? It’s because you refuse to act when it matters most.

It’s because you refuse to make decisions when decisions are life and death.

You drown yourselves in procedures and expect us to wait. But we are done waiting. If you want to prove your values aren’t just words, then show it.

Remove the obstacles. End the hypocrisy. Welcome Ukraine as a full member of the West.

Economy, trade rules, institutional methods, those can be discussed later. You can even expel us later if you get tired of us. But today? Today, Ukraine needs you to act.

Now.

Because this is the reality: We are already part of Europe. We are fighting and dying for the safety of your people while you bury yourselves in red tape.

And if you can’t see that, maybe the European Union was never what it claimed to be.

Maybe the West was never what it claimed to be.

European Union, how much longer will you keep Ukraine waiting?

How much longer will you watch us bleed for your safety while you hide behind bureaucracy and regulations?

A Ukraine inside the EU means a stronger Europe, protected by the largest and battle-proven military in Europe.

Means no restrictions on sharing intelligence or weapons use against Russia. Means a powerful defense industry that makes Europe less dependent on foreign allies like the United States.

Means also a commitment that says: Europe does not abandon those who defend it.

But all we get are empty promises, bureaucratic delays, and cold reminders that our sacrifices still aren’t enough.

Now, picture yourself standing on a war-torn street in Kyiv. You see a Ukrainian mother holding her child’s hand, her eyes exhausted, her voice cracking as she asks:

“How much longer? How many more of us have to die before you open your doors?”

Would you, people in Brussels, have the courage to look her in the eyes and say, “Just wait a little longer. We need more discussions.”?

European Union, this isn’t a favor. This is a necessity. A duty. An obligation.

Ukraine is dying. Bleeding. Sacrificing everything to defend Europe’s borders. How many more have to die before you open your doors?

When the blood dries, when the rubble settles, when history looks back and asks why you kept Ukraine waiting, what will your answer be?

The choice is yours. Not tomorrow. Not after another summit.

Now.

No more hesitation. No more bureaucratic delays. No more empty promises.

Do you really think history will forgive you for turning your back on those who stood guard for you?
