Ukraine is committed to keep fighting
A reminder to the world that all our incentives are to keep fighting
The war in Ukraine entered its second year some weeks ago, and the situation appears increasingly grim with the latest large-scale attacks. Sometimes it's hard to hear which are the opinions of the average Ukrainian citizen, but I can help a little: there is a broad consensus across the country that any attempt to a compromise with the Kremlin is unacceptable.
Russia is desperately seeking a way out of the quagmire they find themselves in, but we are definitely determined to fight back. Ukraine has suffered greatly, with 40% of the economy gone, 15 million displaced people and our electricity grid being targeted almost every day. Vast portions of our soil were turned into a minefield. We just don't have reason to believe that our enemy will agree to any compromise.
A reminder to the world, once again: all our incentives are to keep fighting.
Despite our immense losses, we remain and will remain unified in our desire to protect independence and resist. Many private sector companies, for example, have adapted to the conflict. Ukrainians from across Europe are returning home to join the fight, and there are people from other countries joining the resistance as well. The whole society is fully mobilized to contribute in any possible way.
Assistance from our friendly nations of the West has been crucial for Ukraine to emerge victorious from this ordeal. We have proven ourselves resilient, and our friendly countries are also proving their resilience in our perception. This is a war against civilization, a war that impacts everyone's lives, everywhere.
Ukraine just had the bad luck of being the territory where destiny made its choice to host the battlegrounds. But we accept destiny with all the bravery of our souls.Β
We are confident that the decisive victory is within sight.
It is such a huge tragedy for Ukrainians that you have the barbaric Kremlin as neighbours. You are in such a nightmare situation. Y.ou don't have the option to compromise because Putin would simply lie.
With this barbaric streak of Russia, they are indeed neighbours from hell.
You are fighting them magnificently. I so wish you didn't have to deal with this. Ukraine is a hugely important wake up call for those of us who take our imperfect democracies for granted.
Russia can never own your free spirits. If only they would totally crumble. Fast.
