The adventure of writing a book
My first book "The Divine Comedian: Ukraine's journey to Hell, Purgatory and Paradise" is available for free download
The adventure of writing a book was one I never thought about going through. The fact of reading a book, alone, is already an accomplishment in these modern days of instant information and smartphones, so writing one was a distant and peculiar adventure I thought only designedΒ to the strong. Nevertheless, I also never thought I would be testifying this war in my Ukraine, and it raised an unexpected strength to convert feelings into words that now I'm making available to anyone my first book "The Divine Comedian: Ukraine's Journey to Hell, Purgatory and Paradise". You can reach it out with this button below:
Developing a correspondence between Dante Alighieri's masterpiece "Divine Comedy" to anything else is an ambitious enterprise. The allegorical narrative that describes a personβs journey through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise is one of the greatest works in world literature, and it indeed could be used as a metaphor to explore the situation in Ukraine during the shameful invasion everyone in the world is concerned about. Hell and Purgatory provides a true illustration when considering the current experiences of those living in this part of the globe.Β
It is important to note that "Divine Comedy", the original is an artistic and poetic representation of spiritual truths rather than a political work. Besides, the association with Dante's book is done under explicit and free combination of my own ideas, never intending to rewrite or provide a contemporary version. It's just a way to expose my thoughts and organize, to the reader, my living participation in today's events.
Although I'm someone with a stronger inclination to human sciences, poetry and literature were never among my vocational skills and I consider myself more attached to the visual arts. Very sincerely, I'm overly engaged in sensations of any kind to the point of having trouble when a set of techniques are demanded, everything I went through in life was more or less disorganized and things just went to reality without a component of anticipation or planning. Which often means problems, for sure, but at least what comes out is authentic and honest, the fundamental spirit of this work.
Also, it's beyond my intention to compare human suffering in different wars, every war is cruel in its own way. Sometimes, populations only have to manage scarcity of some goods and inflation, but there are cases notable for humanitarian disasters such as the one I'm currently testifying. These are the cases when people have to deal with consequences in the elementary aspects of life such as broken families, destroyed villages and existential intimidation at national level.
This is a book to remember that Ukrainians believe that Paradise waits for us after such an unfair expedition through Hell and Purgatory. Even though we didn't deserve this journey, we are emerging from this war as a stronger and more resilient society.Β
I anxiously wait for feedback. Have a good read!
