Unfortunately, your troubles were brought on by a madman who will never have enough of anything, but he is from another country. Our very similar madman is homegrown and doing this to his own people...although of course he doesn't see us that way; all he sees is himself and what he can get out of us.
I would love to see the war in your country end. It is ridiculous that it was ever started and absolutely bonkers that it's still going on over four years laters. I am so sorry that we in the U.S., more of whom want to be your ally than not, cannot make the people in charge here do their jobs and help you out.

How to convey the horrors that are happening everyday and everywhere— the majority of which are caused by the greed of investors in the weapons industry combined with the cold calculus of a small cadre of inhumane beings motivated by the lust for power, who are propped up by vast numbers of willfully ignorant Americans whose habitual laziness and selfishness has cultivated their indifference to suffering.
Americans didn't attack Ukraine, and Americans didn't give approval nor did congress for Trump's war to honor Netanyahu get approval. Check out the high disapproval ratings before you put all Americans under one umbrella, to be shamed and insulted by the world !!!
In the 2024 presidential election, 65.3% of eligible Americans voted. Although that reflects a trend showing relatively higher turnout, I would like to see a much higher percentage of citizens actually voting. The majority of people who voted for Trump ignored his calumny, his crimes, his ignorance, sexism and racism, his cozy and inexplicable relationship with Vladimir Putin, AND his stated intentions to withhold aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the vast majority of Americans pay little attention to current events and foreign affairs. According to Gallup polling, only 32% of Americans pay close attention to national political news, down 10 points since 2020. I taught in a university for 25 years and I understand the existence of willful ignorance— And the vast majority of Americans are willfully ignorant.
And yet, here we are. The American voters chose him as president not once but TWICE. Perhaps some reflection on that unmistakable truth might be worthwhile, dee. My mama always said, ‘you get the government you deserve’.
Not all Americans voted for this or the one occupying the WH. Some have a better understanding of right and wrong and what is happening to Ukraine is so very wrong.

As a people Ukrainians have survived so much for so long and I wonder if a certain amount of generational trauma and stress is contributing to those that remain in this constant danger are surviving on that preprogrammed nervous system from generations past?

I pray everyday that my husband will recover from his wounds enough to be allowed to be with me, but what the fighting may have done to his nervous system is unknown. Even as he is recovering, there continues to be fighting around him. His heart and Soul are so enormous and I pray every moment that nothing changes this, but I also have to be prepared for changes.
