I send you my most sincere wishes of a Happy Christmas and Happy Holidays

Christmas in Ukraine was commonly celebrated on January 7th because of the traditional observance of the Orthodox Julian Calendar. A significant part of Ukrainians observe Christian Orthodox customs. However, since the full support from the Russian Orthodox Church to the invasion, there were more and more efforts in Ukraine to transfer the celebration to December 25th as most of the Christian world.

This year, president Zelenskyy passed a bill transferring the holiday from January to December, so for the first time in our history, we are celebrating the most beautiful date of the year, at least that one which carries the greatest load of meanings of hope, generosity and benevolence as well as their spreading through societies and people in general.

Christmas is not only about religion. One of the most beautiful and important aspects of it, is that it's a date to celebrate the best inside ourselves. The most virtuous characters of our souls, the ones that make us a collective of virtuosity and elevate humanity to an experience of living together the greatness of mind and soul.

Changing the date of Christmas is not an easy move to everyone, in particular the elderly. But they are the first to understand that times of war demand us change, and it has been receiving overwhelming acceptance from the population including them. It also carries strong political significance, meaning the strong choice of Ukrainians to stay aligned with our allies and the values of justice and democracy.

In the quality of someone celebrating Christmas for the first time in December, for the first time together with most of the world, in the same date of our allies and their fantastic people who are strongly connected with us Ukrainians by their support, I send you my most sincere wishes of a Happy Christmas and Happy Holidays.
