As I was sitting here, very safe in my home, in a country I no longer recognize, petting one of our eight rescue cats, I decided to check my phone, and this is what came up. The universe knows exactly what it's doing, and when and how to tell you.
Thank you, Viktor, and I wish I could help in a way more than moral support, just please know that as much as I can give, I'm giving.
Viktor, I have had many cats, but I live in a facility now and I don’t have one. I had a black cat with turquoise eyes like your cat. And I called him Guy Noir. I rescued him and he was a dear friend and companion to me for years. He didn’t sit in my lap, but he always had to sit up on the back of my chair. Cats bring so much to our lives. Thank you for telling us about your cat. 🇺🇦🇺🇸
Kathy I too live in a nursing home and had to give away my kitty I had then to a friend I've had cats all my life and they are such a comfort and delight. y girls name was Minnie Mouse
I’m living in an apartment that does not allow cats!!! It breaks my heart and so I visit the local shelter where I seek out the most frightened cats and get on my blanket (that smells like me) in a corner, trying to make myself as small as I can. Sometimes it takes an hour to get one to come to me. I’ve gotten a few to make biscuits and I read softly to them. It’s all I can do 💙💛
Not sure about my Boxers. The only cat they have ever met is the one at our vet's office and he is a Maine Coon. Dogs cower before his fury. Ollie and Delilah just want to play with him. They are totally ignorant of cats.
I needed this tonight. I just lost the oldest of my cats. He looked just exactly like your cat and he meant the to me. Thank you for this post, it was a wonderful piece and I feel exactly like you about all of my cats 🐈!! 💜
We understand who the innocents are, and it might hurt, but it's beautiful. I, and I can speak for my wife as well, are deeply sorry for your loss. We have so much, and they give us so much more, it's frankly difficult to understand. Even in the frustrating moments.
I am so sorry for your loss, Pegster53. Just remember, he brought you so much more happiness than he ever did grief. These are the friends hardest to loose ❤
Tolik is gorgeous and also seems very tender. I could not live without my cats. And when the war began 4 years ago, I was struck by all the photos showing Ukrainians fleeing west to safer cities or countries. They always had their cats with them. They left everything else behind but would never leave their cats. That fact alone made me sure Ukrainians are magnificent human beings.
I have never been owned by a cat. But I lived for some time with a cousin who was. He was a very large, very fluffy white cat named Clyde S. Dale. Clyde decided when he would sit in your lap, and it did not matter if you were busy with something else or not even sitting down at the time. He also let you know when he wanted to go out or come back in by slamming his paws on the glass door. I was certain he would break it one day. You could hear his purring from other rooms. He was a fantastic lap warmer on a cold day. If he was not in the mood for the flavor of food you put in his dish, he would yowl until you changed it AND warmed it. I told my cousin I wanted to come back as Clyde in my next life. ❤️💙💛
When my neighbor's son moved home with his two cats from a small Chicago apartment, one of the two left his new home the first chance he had to escape. One afternoon as I opened the front door to let in my own cats, he came in with them, walked up the stairs, and looked at me as if to say, "I'm home!" The neighbor came and got him but he wouldn't stay there. This was a difficult time in my life and I think the Universe sent him to console me.
It is not surprising to me that so many cats are a comfort to the Ukrainian people, as cats are spiritual beings that live in the present. It probably helps that they have nine lives! Thank you, Viktor, for your courageous and beautiful writing!
My boy Buster could be your cat’s twin; they look very similar. He has been with me for over 12 years. He helped me through the heartache at the end of my marriage and was a constant comfort to me through an illness that kept me homebound for almost a year. He’s still frisky and playful, though I’ve recently learned that he has hyperthyroidism and that it is not responding well to medication. I can’t allow myself to consider losing him to this disease; it hurts to even try to go to there.
So I’ll just continue to cuddle with him, spoil him with treats, and hold my displeasure when he knocks over and breaks another of my figurines or framed photos.
I’ve had several cats over many years but only one stole my heart and then broke it when he died of old age. I’ve not been able to get a new one. Peace to you and your loved ones and prayers for us all.
Tolik is a great companion for you. Especially when he curls up and purrs on you. So relaxing and comforting. Much love to you and your black kitty Viktor.
Here getting ready to go to sleep. Early spring frogs are singing. They don’t know about war either! Thank heavens! On the bed with me and my husband: toy poodle Max, 13 years old, blind in one eye, devoted. He loves our three cats - they are just his size, or even bigger. They tolerate him. The spring air through the open window is cool and sweet: I count my blessings. Thank you for sharing one of yours. They certainly do help us to survive the insanity that we ourselves create! Sending prayers and wishes for your protection and the end of War. And love and gratitude to Tolik. I imagine that he speaks - or at least understands - all human languages.
Dear Viktor, Thank you so much the story of your cat! Currently, we are owned by 2 cats. Both are female but their personalities are very different. They are both slowing down as they pass the age of 10 human years, but the slightly older one can still make us laugh by chasing her tail! She also loves to sit on our screened - in porch and watch the birds and butterflies!
Your cat must give you both companionship and bring you comfort and laughter. I pray that both of you will be safe in the war where you are living.
Viktor, I like other people's cats. One of my family is allergic to their dander, can't have one here.
I was only young eight or nine maybe when a white long haired cat came to us. No one knew where he came from, his whiskers were singed, was he in a fire? Don't know.
He was intolerant of other cats, as territorial as a dog. He grew, over time, to tolerate the puppy we got a few years later. But he had repressed drame under all that soft white.
Our little dog wasn't aggressive, didn't chase people or animals away. One warm summer afternoon a neighbour’s dog came on attack for our little dog. The cat was old by then content to watch. Not that day.
Here was a predator coming for his dog and he found full speed. I don't think he noticed the size of the enemy but he did see it's nose. One claw swipe and a howl and the attacker retreated with his tail down. The old cat turned his back, put his tail straight up. He flicked it side to side, looked at our dog and laid out in the warm sun.
He was a cat, just a cat being a cat and no dog was going to menace his dog.
My biggest cat Chester did that one time too. Jessica was here gardening, and she brought along her beagle, and let him wander all over the place. No leash or other constraint at all. Didn't even ask. He was checking the place out like he owned it. Very irresponsible and disrespectful of her. I paused in what I was doing to speak with her about the garden and the beagle came over. Suddenly I heard a low growling sound -- I didn't know where it was coming from. I looked around -- there was Chester, standing on a log, fur standing on end, blown up to twice his already-substantial size. The growl got louder. The beagle made another wrong move and WHAM! Like lightning, Chester flew at him and scratched his nose. He yowled, and retreated to his Mama. She started yelling at me that I should have controlled my cat. I pointed out that he lives here, but that meant nothing to her. That was the day she quit -- it was long overdue.
We have had at least a dozen. I will have to sit down and list them one day. They steal your heart. Right now we have 3 and a dog, all rescued us. Black cats are special.

On behalf of the frightened cats - Thank You 🙏🏻🇨🇦
I have seven rescues and treasures each and every one.
bless all 8

and you too 💛
Let Tolik know that, on the other side of the world, a giant, cat-friendly Golden Retriever named Rooney sends woofs of love and support. ❤️🇺🇦🐾
I wish I could love this 500 times ❤️❤️❤️
and I'll raise you 500❤️❤️❤️

I’m sorry for your loss. There is no pain quite like that of losing one of our fur babies.
We understand who the innocents are, and it might hurt, but it's beautiful. I, and I can speak for my wife as well, are deeply sorry for your loss. We have so much, and they give us so much more, it's frankly difficult to understand. Even in the frustrating moments.

Yes. They are spiritually embodied beings. They are also teachers.

I pray your Buster
will come through
Sometimes it is valuable
to get a second opinion
Some vets are excellent
at diagnosis but not
at treatment
Others are the opposite
I had a precious cat
who was very ill.
My vet couldn't diagnose her.
Took her to an expert diagnostician.
Lymphoma. one month max to live.
Took her back to first vet.
Agreed, but this vet was expert
in treatment. Kept her alive for 6

I am so sorry
you lost your precious precious cat
I feel your broken heart
My tears fall for you both

We have to rescue cats and I feel the same way. They rescued me. I loved them both dearly. I'll try and send a picture.

Cats.
Great story! Cats will always surprise us because, unlike us, they are still connected to, and respect, the wonder and majesty of the universe.
