Defending Bakhmut and our Values
A recognition of the Ukrainians' commitment to peace and honor
Unless you are interested in war strategy, there's a big chance that you are extremely tired to hear about the current tactical situation in the city of Bakhmut. This place in particular has become a major battleground between Ukrainian and the enemy forces, and will likely remain carved in memory as one of the bloodiest battles of the war.
Every information associated with Bakhmut seems to be inconclusive. No one seems to know exactly its strategic importance for our criminal invaders. Reports from the front are far from reliable and tension remains high all over Ukraine, since every single city of the nation is doubtlessly represented in the area by at least one soldier.
As of this writing, neither outcome can be ruled out, but our president Zelenskyy just had a meeting with our top commanders and announced "there's no part of Ukraine about which one can say that it can be abandoned". He ordered General Zaluzhnyi to find all measurable forces to help the guys in Bakhmut.Β
Putin is so determined to take Bakhmut that he very likely ignores the advice of his generals to retreat, in the same way he was forced to do so many times in the last months, especially in Kharkiv and Kherson. This will end as a huge humiliation among his supporters and his domestic public. Defeating Russia there will possibly be the end of their offensive, and maybe signal the beginning of a long withdrawal.
Bakhmut, however, is much more than a position in war maps. Bakhmut is the signature of our dignity, our perseverance and our commitment to defend the human right of having our own territory, with the autonomy to build a society in our terms, with our notion of justice, democracy and freedom, which are and always were a galaxy away from the notion that our barbaric neighbors used to have along their history.
We will recover Bakhmut and there's no doubt about it, but in the end, it doesn't matter too much. What matters are our values. Our principles. Our integrity is not at stake in Bakhmut as it never was in any other battle in these almost 400 days.Β
At stake now, is only Russia's game of manipulating their people and getting support to continue spreading this endless evil
We may occasionally happen to fall, but we will fall in peace and honor. That's why we are not afraid to die.
And that is an incentive our enemies will never have in their souls.
