The Victory Day in Russia and some of the post-soviet countries is characterized by a national mobilization of the largest scale. Every 9th of May, people from all ages gather in street parades by remembering their parents of grandparents who were lost to the Second World War. Every Soviet family lost at least someone in the occasion, many lost all their men.
However, what shoud be a honorable date to remember those who gave their lives to fight against Hitler's infamous ideas and pretensions, was transformed simply on a rally of military display and a real operation of ideology engineering, intending to attach the idea that Russia is fighting against a new generation of Nazism, Fascism or whatever crazy idea Putin has in his mind.
I mentioned everyting to say that Russia has the intention of transforming this next 9th of May in his symbol of victory, of at least something they could sell via Russian State TV as being victory. They will certainly engage in more attacks.
Last year, when I originally wrote this article, I suggested that a clear indication that Russia would escalate war to coincide Victory Day celebrations with war actions were the missiles which blasted the city of Lviv five days before this date. These artifacts flew some hundred metres over my head and felt six kilometers from the place I was, hitting the territory of the railway terminal facilities and causing human losses. The sound was insanely high and scary, I will never forget that.
All things said, I propose we make a sort of switch to take this Victory Day for Russia in a Victory Day for Ukraine. That's not my idea, I have been reading about it several times this week. It will be a day to commemorate every year and we will equally teach our children that's a holiday to recognize the fight against Nazism, but not that one of the last century. This is a fight against Russia's Nazism, which is represented by the massacres, the genocide and by the long list of war crimes that grows every single day.
And by the infamous, egocentrical and self-entitled leader they have, by all means.
A holiday to celebrate the Victory against the 21st century Nazis who started a war by simply claiming they had the goal to fight Nazis. Russians are the real Nazis. They are the ones who are commiting genocide against us.
And like the example we had in the last century, this evil can spread to the world if the reaction does not meet the importance it requires.
Slavi Ukraine πΊπ¦ β₯οΈ Keep your heads up high for defending your homeland!!!
May the good Lord Almighty smile upon your people with His everloving Presence Amen π and bring a successful end to the tyranny you're all resisting!!!
And Russian victimhood plays a big role in WWII mythology in Russia. Stalin started it. There was hardly any action in Russia, except for its far western part (to be sure, Leningrad was awful). Almost all of the action took place in Belarus and Ukraine. It was Ukrainians and Belarusians who did most of the fighting and dying. THAT is why these Russian military parades every May are so revolting. The Russian people are living a myth because they refuse to give credit to the people who fought that war.
